SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER    THE ROLE: AMD is looking for a Software Engineer who is passionate about building scalable web applications, backend systems, and AI-powered solutions. You will be a member of a core team of talented engineers working on cutting-edge platforms that support AMD's AI infrastructure, cluster management, and automation workflows.   THE PERSON: The ideal candidate is passionate about software engineering, system design, and building robust backend services. They should have strong development skills, an eye for clean architecture, and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams to deliver impactful solutions.

Design and develop scalable  backend APIs  and services to support AI infrastructure workflows and internal tooling Build and maintain  web applications  and dashboards for cluster monitoring, job management, and performance reporting Develop  AI agent integrations  to automate complex workflows including cluster health checks, issue triage, and customer support Write  automation scripts  in Python and Shell for deployment, provisioning, and operational tasks Integrate with distributed systems (Kubernetes, Slurm) via RESTful and GraphQL APIs Build data pipelines to collect, process, and visualize AI workload performance metrics Design and implement  Express.js  or FastAPI-based microservices for internal platforms Collaborate with AI and infrastructure teams to expose system capabilities through clean API interfaces PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Strong proficiency in  Python  — scripting, automation, and backend development Experience building  RESTful APIs  using frameworks like  Express.js (Node.js) , FastAPI, or Flask Proficiency in  Shell scripting  (Bash) for system automation and DevOps tasks Experience designing and developing  web applications  with modern frontend/backend separation Familiarity with  AI agents  and LLM-based automation (LangChain, OpenAI APIs, Claude API, or similar) Experience integrating with  Kubernetes or Slurm  APIs for cluster-level orchestration Knowledge of  databases  — SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis) Experience with  CI/CD pipelines , Docker, and containerized deployments Familiarity with  monitoring and observability  tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack) Strong understanding of  Linux  environments and command-line tooling Experience with  Git , code reviews, and collaborative development workflows NICE TO HAVE: Exposure to AI/ML workflows, GPU infrastructure, or HPC environments Experience with AMD ROCm or GPU-accelerated computing Familiarity with MLOps tooling (MLflow, Weights & Biases) Experience building  chat agents or agentic workflows using MCP, LangGraph, or similar frameworks PREFERRED ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience Benefits offered are described:  AMD benefits at a glance .   AMD does not accept unsolicited resumes from headhunters, recruitment agencies, or fee-based recruitment services.
