Job Description
CDM Smith is looking for a Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory intern to join our team for the Summer of 2027! Located in our Chelmsford, MA office, just minutes off Routes 3 and 495, you'll be working with a dynamic team on a diverse portfolio of public, federal, and industrial projects. Are you ready to take the next step in your career? As an intern in our Geotechnical lab, your duties will include, • Grain size analysis (sieve and hydrometer) • Moisture content • Organic content • Atterberg limits (plasticity indices) • Soil compaction (Proctor)/moisture-density testing • Loading of consolidation tests • Other, advanced tests will be demonstrated and explained, as samples are assigned, including: Triaxial compression; Permeability; CBR; and Consolidation set-up While not necessary, preferred applicants will have completed a soils mechanics class with laboratory, offering a solid background. However, all necessary training and explanations will be provided.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled and taking courses toward a Bachelors or Masters degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering is required.
