Operation Technology Support Intern - MN, TX

Xcel Energy has an opportunity for a long-term internship within the Operation Technology (OT) Support organization. This unique internship will offer access to work with the AD-Ops Delivery – Energy Management System (Xcel- EMS Team). The successful candidate will gain insight and exposure to the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC)- Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Compliance requirements and be able to support with proper documentation as well as evidence gathering. Over the course of 18 months (20-40 hours weekly), the intern will learn and work on specific requirements within the EMS Team. Typical intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Support construction projects to incorporate new field devices into current SCADA system Work with graphical user interface to support transmission operations Help with internal processes and documentation Work with data analytics and be able to help with troubleshooting issues This position is for a May 24, 2027 start date. This position may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship’s initial term based on the candidate’s successful performance and Xcel Energy’s business needs.

Current student, Sophomore or higher Enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in electrical engineering, computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, drafting, electric design Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.

Great MS office skills, such as Word, Excel.
