About the position
Chevron ENGINE has an exciting opportunity for Benchmarking Analyst: Capital Projects to join the ENGINE Innovation team; this role will be based in Chevron’s office in Bengaluru. Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, and work hours are aligned to business needs. Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday to Friday. These may evolve based on operational or business requirements. Capital Projects Benchmarking Analyst will support Chevron’s ENGINE group by compiling, validating, and analyzing benchmarking data across the upstream business to enable business decisions, including competitive goals setting. This role will focus on collecting financial & operational benchmarking data to support the setting of competitive and realistic targets in areas such as production, operating cost efficiency, and capital productivity. The analyst will collaborate closely with upstream business leads, global stakeholders, and subject matter experts to deliver high-quality benchmarking reports and insights.
Key Responsibilities
Collect, validate, and benchmark capital project cost, schedule, and productivity data across Chevron and peer operators. Analyze project performance metrics, including cost per unit, schedule efficiency, project delivery, and capital intensity. Identify performance gaps, cost drivers, and leading practices to improve project competitiveness. Quantify value opportunities and support development of competitive cost and execution targets. Develop executive-ready benchmarking reports, insights, and recommendations for project and leadership teams. Collaborate with project managers, engineering teams, finance, and external benchmarking providers to ensure data quality and actionable outcomes.
About you
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geoscience, Business, Economics, or a related field 5-10 years of industry experience as an operator or through full-service consulting in upstream oil & gas Proficiency in data analysis, benchmarking, or business performance measurement Proficiency in data management, quality control, and variance analysis Familiarity with third-party upstream data sources such as Wood Mackenzie, Rystad, Solomon, or equivalent providers Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize large upstream data sets into actionable insights.
