Job Description
The Tool Crib Attendant / Saw Operator is responsible for machine shop saw operations and overall material handling activities, including receiving, stocking, inventory management, storage, and put-away of raw materials. This role serves as the primary point of ownership for incoming raw material from receipt through delivery to manufacturing operations, ensuring efficient material flow, inventory accuracy, and material traceability. In addition to supporting production and machine shop operations, the position maintains a close working relationship with the Quality Department and operates with a dotted-line responsibility to Quality for incoming material processing. The incumbent will coordinate with Quality personnel to ensure incoming materials meet inspection, documentation, and traceability requirements prior to release to production. This role is critical to improving accountability for incoming materials, streamlining material flow throughout the facility, supporting on-time production requirements, and reducing administrative and labor burdens across Receiving, Incoming Inspection, Quality, and Manufacturing functions. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Act as the primary owner of incoming raw material receiving, stocking, storage, and distribution processes. Receive and verify incoming raw material shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, certifications, and receiving documentation. Perform material put-away activities and maintain organized storage locations for all raw materials. Ensure proper identification, labeling, and traceability of all incoming materials. Stage raw materials for inspection, saw operations, and machining activities. Maintain accurate inventory transactions within company inventory or ERP systems. Support cycle count activities and inventory accuracy initiatives. Quality & Incoming Inspection Coordination Serve as the primary liaison between Receiving, Manufacturing, and Quality for incoming raw materials. Coordinate with Quality personnel to ensure incoming inspection requirements are completed in a timely manner. Verify required certifications, material test reports, and documentation accompany received material. Maintain segregation and control of nonconforming or suspect material as directed by Quality. Support compliance with quality system requirements related to material control and traceability. Operate with a dotted-line reporting relationship to Quality for activities related to incoming material inspection and control. The Tool Crib Attendant / Saw Operator position is intended to: Establish clear accountability and ownership for incoming raw material management. Improve material flow from receiving through manufacturing operations. Support efficient incoming inspection processes and reduce production delays. Increase overall machine shop productivity and responsiveness. Reduce labor burden across Incoming Inspection, Quality, and Manufacturing by centralizing material handling responsibilities. Enhance inventory accuracy, traceability, organization, and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous manufacturing, machine shop, warehouse, stockroom, or inventory experience. Ability to read and interpret work instructions, drawings, and specifications. Basic math skills including fractions, decimals, and measurements. Experience using measuring tools such as
