Position Summary – Commis Chef. As a Commis Chef Pastry you will support the Pastry Chef and culinary team in the preparation, presentation, and delivery of high-quality pastries, desserts, breads, and baked goods. You will play an important role in maintaining food quality, consistency, and hygiene standards while contributing to an exceptional guest dining experience. This role is ideal for an enthusiastic culinary professional who is passionate about pastry, eager to develop their skills, and committed to delivering excellence in a fast-paced hospitality environment. Key Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation and production of pastries, desserts, cakes, breads, and other baked goods in line with established recipes and presentation standards. Ensure all pastry items are prepared and presented consistently to meet brand and guest expectations. Support the Pastry Chef in daily kitchen operations and service requirements. Maintain high standards of food hygiene, health and safety, and HACCP compliance at all times. Ensure workstations, equipment, and storage areas are clean, organised, and fully prepared for service. Monitor stock levels and assist with the receiving, storage, and rotation of ingredients to minimise waste. Support the team in achieving food cost and waste management targets. Assist with the preparation of seasonal menus, special event offerings, and new dessert creations. Follow recipes, portion controls, and production schedules accurately to ensure consistency and efficiency. Work collaboratively with the wider culinary team to deliver exceptional guest experiences. Demonstrate a willingness to learn new techniques and continuously develop pastry and baking skills. Maintain a positive attitude, contribute to a strong team culture, and uphold the hotel's values and service standards. Ensure all food is stored, labelled, and handled correctly in accordance with company procedures. Support with the preparation and execution of banqueting, events, and special functions as required. Take pride in delivering high-quality products while maintaining attention to detail and presentation standards.
