JOB DESCRIPTION Job Summary Provides senior-level accounting support for Molina's Texas Health Plan, including month-end close, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, statutory reporting, audit support, and accounting schedule preparation. This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and advanced Excel skills to support accurate and timely financial reporting. Essential Job Duties • Prepares and enters journal entries, including General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and statutory reporting entries. • Prepares income and balance sheet statements, consolidated statements, and other various accounting statements and reports. • Analyzes monthly financial reports and records. • Maintains transactions in applicable financial system(s) by recording journal entries in accordance with GAAP, and reconciles all balance sheet accounts to identify errors in posting or coding. • Ensures accuracy of cash balances by reconciling bank account balances to bank statements. • Maintains compliance by completing quarterly and annual statutory financial statements timely, accurately and in accordance with Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP). • Maintains integrity of control processes/procedures by completing recording of accounting transactions. • Supports the annual audit process by preparing schedules requested by auditors. • Tracks direct costs and cost of goods sold, prepares related accruals, and validates supporting documentation to ensure accurate and timely expense recognition. • Prepares and reviews balance sheet reconciliations, researches variances, and resolves reconciling items within established deadlines. • Calculates, records, and monitors cost allocations and amortization schedules in accordance with accounting policies and reporting requirements. • Prepares and analyzes administrative expense accruals to support complete and accurate period-end expense recognition. • Collaborates with interdepartmental partners to obtain supporting information, validate assumptions, and improve the accuracy of financial reporting. • Collaborates with team accountants to coordinate accounting activities, share supporting information, resolve discrepancies, and ensure consistent and accurate financial reporting. • Maintains highly organized workpapers, schedules, and supporting documentation while managing multiple priorities and recurring close deadlines.
Required Qualifications • At least 3 years of accounting experience, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business. • Critical-thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills. • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks. • Ability to work in a team setting. • Effective verbal and written communication skills. • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite products, key skills in Excel (VLOOKUPs and pivot tables)/applicable software program(s) proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications • Experience supporting month-end close and financial reporting in a multi-entity environment • Healthcare, insurance, managed care, or health plan accounting experience preferred • Experience with Oracle, Workday, SAP, or similar ERP systems preferred • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
