About this role
We are looking for a Chief of Staff to support the GeminiApp Design organization through a period of major transformation. Serving as a strategic partner and operational catalyst, this high-visibility role spans model design, user design, and user research at massive scale. You will drive AI transformation and next-gen workflows, advocate for creative culture, craft high-stakes C-suite communications—including quarterly reviews with GDM C-suite leadership—and scale organizational productivity. You will be a trusted advisor and proxy to the VP of UX, ensuring proper alignment, resourcing and enabling the team to move with velocity. The opportunity offers deep operational breadth inside a leading AI lab, working alongside leadership across GDM and Google while building a trajectory toward future executive leadership. Manage and lead critical operational initiatives across the GeminiApp organization. Craft strategic narrative vision decks, progress reports, and critical executive updates to communicate the Gemini experience story directly to C-level stakeholders. Own operational excellence for the organization, including strategic headcount planning, headcount allocation, managing budget requirements for advanced AI tools, and optimizing the cross-functional design critique process. Frame and structure complex, ambiguous, and charged business issues for the leadership team. Serve as the connective tissue across Google and DeepMind, building deep partnerships with key ecosystem surfaces (such as Android, Pixel, and Workspace) to deliver a seamless, unified multi-modal user journey.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business, Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or equivalent practical experience. 15 years of experience in design operations or chief of staff role. Experience operating in zero-to-one spaces. Preferred qualifications: 10 years of experience operating in complex, zero-to-one, ambiguous spaces.
