The SEC Reporting team, within the Corporate Controller’s Department, produces accurate and timely financial reporting for The Charles Schwab Corporation and its broker-dealer, banking, and international subsidiaries. As Manager, SEC Reporting, you will help prepare and review regulatory filings, audited financial statements, earnings materials, and supporting documentation while applying sound judgment to evolving accounting and disclosure requirements.
Your work will strengthen reporting accuracy, regulatory compliance, and the company’s internal control environment. You will research complex reporting matters, identify practical solutions, improve processes, and support audits and regulatory examinations. Success requires careful decision-making, attention to detail, and adaptability in a deadline-driven environment. You will collaborate across accounting, finance, treasury, legal, investor relations, and technical accounting teams to resolve issues, support complete disclosures, and deliver dependable reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
What you have Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting 5+ years of U.S. generally accepted accounting principles accounting and financial reporting experience Recent experience preparing SEC filings, public-company financial statements, and financial statement footnotes Financial Reporting and Regulatory Reporting skills, including knowledge of SEC requirements and XBRL Financial Accounting and Regulatory Compliance skills, with the ability to research guidance and apply it to accurate disclosures Attention to Detail and Critical Thinking skills demonstrated through accurate reports, workpapers, and documentation Ability to use Problem Solving and Decision Making skills when addressing complex accounting and reporting matters Cross-Functional Collaboration and Communication skills for working effectively with business partners Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and intermediate Microsoft Office Suite skills
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Public Accountant license Public accounting experience Financial services accounting experience within a broker-dealer, banking, or comparable regulated environment Experience with PeopleSoft, Adobe Acrobat, or Workiva Wdesk Experience applying Internal Control Evaluation and Process Improvement skills within financial reporting processes Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing requirements, and deliver accurate work within strict deadlines Commitment to Continuous Learning and continued development in financial and regulatory reporting
