The Transportation Training Manager is responsible for overseeing the entirety of Supply Chain onboarding and training (classroom, on-the-job, train the trainer, etc.), with emphasis on new-hire’s (Selectors & Drivers) first 90-days. The Transportation Training Manager contributes to the continuous improvement of safety, performance standards, ongoing engagement, and retention for new Selectors and Drivers through the implementation of learning and performance solutions (feedback, coaching, mentorship programs) within Supply Chain operations. In conjunction with Market Operations Leaders, this role mentors lead trainers & new hires during a multi-week training program and is responsible for overseeing the assimilation, onboarding, and assessment of new talent. The Transportation Training Manager leads, supervises, and conducts associate training needs analysis and identifies opportunities to improve Supply Chain safety, productivity, and retention using observations, data & analytics, and feedback. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES   • Lead with a safety mindset that ensures that every US Foods associate, our customers, and the general public with whom our drivers interact remain injury free, always. Champion safety procedures, processes and training to create and maintain a safety-first culture in the Transportation department. • Oversee and develop drivers and Transportation associates through one-on-one coaching, training on policy and procedures, assisting in problem resolution when required, and leading by example. Ensure all drivers and other Transportation department associates are appropriately trained in job duties as well as safety and legal responsibilities. • Oversee and develop drivers and Transportation associates by discussing performance with Sr. Transportation Managers and creating plans to address gaps. • Create an atmosphere in which upward communication is encouraged, and motivate associates to achieve department goals and objectives. • Direct and supervise the work and productivity of drivers and clerical associates within the Transportation department. Drive associate engagement and retention, and create a culture that embodies US Foods values. • Build high-performing teams by participating in interviewing and hiring Transportation personnel, in conjunction with Sr. Transportation Managers. Review performance, coach on service and safety targets, and deliver disciplinary action. • Monitor production goals and maintain a zero-error attitude to ensure accuracy and customer satisfaction. Anticipate, analyze and troubleshoot problems with deliveries and devise cost-effective and legal solutions; act to implement same. Ensure team understands and adheres to DOT regulations. • Identify and stop waste, and improve processes to complete work more safely and efficiently. • Conduct routine Safety and Driver Meetings. Oversee maintenance of driver qualification files. • Investigate all accidents, maintain an accident file, track causes and take appropriate preventative action. • Effectively schedule working shifts by leveraging appropriate planning tools (i.e., Microsoft Excel) • Other duties assigned by manager.   SUPERVISION : Direct supervision of all Selector and Driver New Hires (~20 new hires at any given time) during their onboarding (Day 1 – Day 90). Market on-the-job Trainers, where applicable. RELATIONSHIPS Internal: VPO, Directors, HR, and Supervisors/Managers, and Supply Chain Associates External : Training course vendors and regulatory compliance agencies, as applicable WORK ENVIRONMENT Inside/Outside of Distribution Centers, exposure to heat & cold (freezer & cooler) Internal Associate facing Travel via air & car (rental) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Two years of training/facilitation experience One year experience overseeing a
