About the opportunity

We are seeking an Associate Credit Risk Management to join our Credit Back Office team. The Credit Back Office function serves as an essential control and operational pillar, responsible for credit analysis, rating and decision-making for risk-relevant exposures, maintaining end-to-end credit process quality, and ensuring robust reporting and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will have a direct hand in shaping the future of this function and contribute to the success of the overall organization.

In this role, you will

• Support N26 Bank’s credit back office function (MaRisk BTO1.1), including credit analysis, rating and voting for single risk-relevant exposures, and decision authorities in line with the Credit Risk Policy

• Support the credit processes and controls, to ensure quality of end-to-end credit processes including underlying risk assessment instruments (internal/external rating, debt-servicing ability, monitoring, and early warning systems) and robust 2nd line process controls

• Support the credit risk reporting and loan loss provisioning approach through ensuring the integrity and functionality of credit risk database serving as the source for credit portfolio monitoring, reporting, and loan loss provisioning (IFRS 9), including model performance monitoring and process controls

• Support regulatory compliance approaches through ensuring compliance with applicable law and regulation (incl. KWG, MaRisk, CRR, EBA Guidelines/RTS) in credit risk-taking activities across the Group

What you need to be successful

Background

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree

• Foundational understanding of credit risk principles, financial statement analysis, and credit processes (prior internships or practical experience in banking or financial services is a plus, but not required)

Skills

• Basic understanding of banking regulations and credit guidelines (e.g., MaRisk, KWG, CRR, EBA Guidelines)

• Strong analytical, numerical, and conceptual skills with acute attention to detail

• Data literacy and familiarity with handling financial datasets or credit databases

• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams

• Fluency in English is required; professional German language skills are a strong plus
