About this role

Overview

A small team with outsized impact. We're reimagining the compliance program management office — pairing rigorous program discipline with frontier AI — and we need a strong program manager to help build it. The Compliance & Ethics PMO within Microsoft's Corporate, External & Legal Affairs (CELA) group partners across the enterprise to design the governance, tooling, and AI-enabled operating models behind complex compliance programs. In this role you will translate regulatory requirements into executable plans, stand up the governance and operating rhythms that keep them on track, and build AI-supported systems that connect obligations to controls and evidence, surface gaps and dependencies, automate routine workflows, and produce timely, decision-ready insights for leaders and executives. This is a second-line compliance role: operational teams remain accountable for day-to-day execution and regulatory engagement, while you coordinate, enable, and strengthen program performance across the enterprise. Success means governance that drives accountability, preserves human judgment for consequential decisions, embeds privacy and security safeguards, and turns recurring compliance work into durable, measurable, auditable processes that scale across programs.

Responsibilities

Regulatory compliance PMO execution • Own day-to-day program management for regulatory compliance programs — planning, decision support, action tracking, and executive-ready reporting — bringing structure to ambiguity and clarity to noise. • Run the cross-company operating rhythm across legal, privacy, security, engineering, procurement, HR, and business partners to drive timely decisions and accountable execution. • Synthesize program health, surface dependencies and execution risks, and escalate with concise options and recommendations — not just problems. • Coordinate program planning, evidence tracking, standards updates, issue remediation, and audit-readiness and control-testing activities in a highly matrixed environment. • Partner with operational teams to convert regulatory requirements into actionable plans and measurable readiness signals. • Maintain an honest data posture — clearly distinguishing validated facts from targets, assumptions, blockers, and items awaiting confirmation. • Build reusable PMO mechanisms (templates, dashboards, playbooks) that improve consistency across programs. Compliance platform and AI-powered operations • Help shape our internal compliance-tracking platform — intake, program onboarding, user feedback, issue triage, and alignment between program needs and tooling. • Push the frontier of AI-assisted compliance operations: scale agentic workflows, optimize program routines, and find new automation opportunities across the PMO. • Apply responsible-AI practices — governance, privacy, security, and human-in-the-loop controls — when deploying AI-enabled tooling. Program-manager development and knowledge transfer • Grow PMs' competence in regulatory compliance, PMO discipline, and the team's tools and operating routines. • Create onboarding materials and practical examples that help PMs ramp quickly. • Coach PMs on stakeholder management, executive communication, risk framing, and disciplined follow-through in ambiguous environments.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance, or related field AND 4+ years experience in program management, process management, or process improvement OR equivalent experience. Additional/Preferred Qualifications Experience leading complex, cross-functional programs in regulatory compliance, risk, governance, audit, privacy, security, or other regulated environments. Experience translating legal, regulatory, policy, or risk requirements into actionable program plans, controls, and measurable readiness indicators. Experience building and operating scalable PMO mechanisms, including governance,
