As an Embedded Software Engineer on the Platform Automation team within Ag Engineering Embedded Software located in Urbandale, IA or Waterloo, IA, you will support technical efforts on innovative, high‑visibility projects that are transforming modern agriculture. Our team designs autonomy‑enabled software that allows farm equipment to navigate fields, plant, and harvest with minimal human intervention. Additionally, you will:
Collaborate closely with experienced engineers and cross‑functional partners to deliver production‑ready embedded software across the full product development lifecycle. We value strong technical ownership, thoughtful prioritization, and engineers who are motivated to solve complex, real‑world problems at scale. Develop embedded software in C and Simulink with AI-assisted coding tools to deliver an optimized and validated customer facing automation solution Collaborate closely with experts developing precision Ag guidance solutions that direct a vehicle along a planned path and with experts developing drivetrain software Execute unit and integration testing of software in multiple environments (virtual, lab and on-vehicle) Analyze issues and drive for resolution of issues found during lab and field testing

Demonstrated technical problem solving abilities Experience with software product development through practical work experiences, relevant internships or academic experience Demonstrated exposure to developing embedded applications using C or MATLAB Simulink Excellent written and verbal communication skills for working in a team environment What Makes You Stand Out
Strong passion for embedded engineering and learning new technologies Experience with AI‑assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Copilot CLI). Experience with control systems design and analysis on agricultural applications Experience with simulation and modeling tools such as Real-Time Workshop Experience in automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, and Ethernet Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD) and software test automation using ecu.test Experience relating to the design/diagnostics of mechanical/electrical/hydraulic systems Knowledge of electronic circuits and components with the ability to read schematics and data sheets Experience with continuous integration development and automated build tools Experience with embedded systems tools such as emulators, compilers, and simulators Experience using laboratory equipment such as Logic Analyzers and Oscilloscopes Education
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Systems Engineering
