The VP, Pricing Actuary is responsible for assisting in the evaluation and pricing of reinsurance opportunities across RenaissanceRe's global credit portfolio. This includes all three pillars of our credit business: Credit, Bond & Political Risk ("CBPR"), Mortgage Credit, and Structured Credit. The role includes working with the Underwriting, Risk, and Analytics teams to deliver model enhancements, provide analytical tools, and support a global minimum technical standard for the analyst pool. Responsibilities include: ▪ Provide analysis, modelling, and account pricing to the Company's Credit team. These lines of business primarily include Mortgage, Structured Credit, Trade Credit, Political Risk, and Surety. ▪ Develop and enhance approaches to analytical evaluation within these lines of business, while ensuring consistency of approach across the seven geographic platforms and writing credit business. ▪ Assist in managing the global Credit analyst pool, ensuring a global minimum technical standard is achieved by all Credit analysts. Support the promotion pathway and mentoring of analysts seeking advancement to Senior Analyst level. ▪ Contribute to the ongoing development of RenaissanceRe's proprietary modelling capabilities, reporting, and aggregate management functionality, bringing specific skills and knowledge to the organization. ▪ Track industry trends, engage with data aggregators, and enhance the group's knowledge of market characteristics with utilization of relevant information, both proprietary and publicly available. ▪ Use vendor models, including running models, interpreting their results, and recommending how they can be used to aid the underwriting process. ▪ Develop innovative solutions to transform existing processes to increase efficiencies and boost productivity. Education & Certifications: ▪ A university degree with emphasis on mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, or a similar scientific field. ▪ Actuarial designation required (e.g. ACAS, FCAS, FIA or similar). ▪ A minimum of 8 years' experience in the insurance industry with experience in reinsurance. ▪ Prior experience with pricing of reinsurance treaties in the following classes of business preferred: Mortgage, Structured Credit. ▪ Advanced knowledge of the common types of reinsurance and how they are relevant to each line of business. ▪ Strong analytical problem-solving skills, including knowledge of concepts such as distribution extrapolation, curve fitting, and portfolio optimization. ▪ Ability to effectively verbally communicate analytical findings to a broader audience. ▪ Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of applications. ▪ Proficiency in programming (SQL, Python, VBA, Tableau, Power BI).
