About this role
Owns all mechanical and electrical equipment in the department. Write, implement, and troubleshoot PLC code on new and existing equipment. Provides project input and collaboration with Engineering Department. Drives out losses (failures and breakdowns) within equipment and department. Develops preventative maintenance (PM) tasks for all mechanical and electrical equipment. Participates and coach others to maintain power and controls equipment. Understand and model Operational Excellence and HPO systems and tools. Responsible for driving mechanical, electrical and instrumentation issues to root cause. Strives to develop a zero-loss and continuous improvement culture. Actively communicates changes to equipment and processes to others in the Plant. Work closely with the Planning & Scheduling Coordinator to develop scope of work for all maintenance and project work in the department. Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and ensure they are followed. Understands all department unit operations and can explain form and function. Effectively coordinate sub-contractors performing technical work. Take ownership of Plant processes that promote equipment reliability. Interview prospective candidates and participate in the selection process. Understand all input and outputs to the process. Uses failure and breakdown data to develop focus of work and action plans. Trains shift technicians on operational and maintenance skills. Sign permits for hot work, line break, and confined space entry. Provides key functional expertise training (gearbox, lubrication, etc.). Trains technicians on proper equipment maintenance utilizing AM / PM Pillar Tools. Owns a Safety or Quality Key Element and PM Pillar DMS. Participates and trains others on the importance of Change Management and the Plant Improvement System. Continues to train and improve department; cross train with other maintenance coordinators. On call to provide off-shift support as needs arise. Provides input to team leader for end of shift pass down. Will complete the step-up card pertaining to his/her expertise and score 4’s on 90% of the step-up card. Works with and provides training and direction to onsite contractors. Meets with plant E&T resources to understand the plant training policies and systems. Works with Planner to coordinate and communicate work with outside contractors. Has a planner role in Maximo, managing all aspects of work orders system. Member of PM Pillar and understands all aspects of Operational Excellence.
REQUIREMENTS
5-years of experience supporting machine control systems Demonstrated knowledge of Rockwell PLC hardware, PLC programming, VFDs, and HMI Proficient knowledge of servos, encoders, linear actuators, pneumatic equipment, and sensors Strong ability to access and comprehend technical manuals via the internet, and interact with external technical resources while addressing problems Proficient knowledge of bearings, valves, piping systems, hydraulic systems, steam systems, gear boxes. Able to operate a forklift with previous forklift operating experience Effective team leadership skills including conflict resolution, problem solving (analytical troubleshooting processes), excellent interpersonal skills, communication (effective listening, giving and receiving feedback), time management, goal and priority setting, process improvement, organization Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision Able to work overtime and weekends according to business needs Ability to work a flexible schedule across shifts as needed to most effectively support the department PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described below represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions and duties of this job. Employee is required to stand and lift frequently. Employee is required to use hands and arms for reaching/handling purposes. Employee is required to stand and walk at minimum 70% of the time.
