About You and this Role Dow's Alkoxylation Process Technology Expertise Department has an exciting and challenging opportunity available for a Tech Center Specialist . The preferred location for this position is the U.S. Gulf Coast (Texas and Louisiana). Other locations within the U.S. and globally may be considered. In this role, you will support our Alkoxylation portfolio of products produced by Polyurethanes (PU) and Dow Industrial Solutions (DIS) plants by providing technical and project support to our Dow assets as well as External Manufacturing arrangements. We are seeking a highly motivated and technically strong candidate with experience in Alkoxylation, plant troubleshooting and scaling up new products, plant optimization, technical project support.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support and process troubleshooting to External Manufacturing facilities and internal Alkoxylation plants of PU and DIS, producing polyols, polyglycols, surfactants, lubricants, and fluids (industrial & excipient). Serve as project leader to drive implementation of an initiative. This may include, but is not limited to new product introductions, asset evaluations, capital project feasibility and EHS improvements commonly related to process safety. Lead multi-functional teams to drive rapid assessment & troubleshooting of escalated plant technology gaps or unplanned events. Identify and lead value creation projects at Alkoxylation PU and DIS plants. Provide key stakeholder updates to review critical aspects of the project including risks and barriers to success. Lead feasibility studies for determining path forward to exploit capacity growth opportunities. Work with others in the Technology Expertise Center on relevant issues and communicate technical and operational improvement opportunities to plant team members. Ensure compliance with Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) standards and programs including in the area of process safety.
Required Qualifications
A minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering OR relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 ranking OR Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class ranking PLUS 5 or more years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, 10 or more years of relevant experience may be considered. A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Qualifications
Chemical engineering degree Prior experience in operations or process automation Strong computer skills. Previous experience with reactor modeling tools.
