Location: 4224 Ridge Lea Road, Amherst New York Job Summary As a member of Key's second line of defense Compliance Risk Management function, the Senior Compliance Manager, Real Estate Secured Lending is responsible for leading compliance oversight activities and managing a team of compliance professionals supporting real estate secured lending businesses. This role serves as a trusted advisor to business partners by interpreting applicable federal and state consumer protection laws and regulations, evaluating their impact on business processes, products, systems, and initiatives, and providing guidance to ensure compliance requirements are effectively integrated into operations. The successful candidate will possess deep knowledge of federal and state regulations applicable to real estate secured lending, including but not limited to Regulation B (Equal Credit Opportunity Act), Regulation Z (Truth in Lending Act), and the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA). The role requires expertise in compliance risk management, issues management, monitoring and verification activities, regulatory change management, and control effectiveness assessments. The Senior Compliance Manager must demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills, along with the ability to effectively challenge business practices and drive risk-based decision-making. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who exhibits initiative, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning and process improvement. Experience leading and developing teams of compliance professionals, combined with a strong understanding of banking products, lending operations, and regulatory expectations, is essential. This position requires the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple lines of business and control functions, including Compliance Risk Management, Legal, Operational Risk, Internal Audit, and Business Risk teams. The Senior Compliance Manager must proactively build relationships, facilitate cross-functional coordination, and provide leadership on complex regulatory and compliance matters to support the organization's objectives while maintaining a strong control environment. Essential Functions Lead and develop a team of compliance professionals responsible for supporting real estate secured lending activities. Provide regulatory interpretation, consultation, and guidance regarding applicable federal and state laws and regulations. Perform independent oversight, monitoring, and effective challenge of business activities, processes, and controls. Assess compliance risks and evaluate the adequacy of controls designed to mitigate regulatory risk. Oversee issues management activities, including root cause analysis, remediation plans, and validation of corrective actions. Support regulatory change management efforts and assess the impact of new or amended regulations on business operations. Partner with business leaders and risk management stakeholders to ensure compliance considerations are incorporated into strategic initiatives, products, processes, and systems. Prepare and present compliance risk assessments, monitoring results, emerging risks, and key regulatory developments to management and governance committees as appropriate. Foster a culture of compliance, accountability, continuous improvement, and regulatory excellence.
Education
