The mission of GWU Hospital is to provide the highest quality of healthcare, advanced medical technology, and world class service to its patients in an academic medical center dedicated to education and research Summary: Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) coordinator for the Mechanical Support Program (MCS) at the MFA and GW Hospital. The VAD coordinator will be the central point of contact for MCS program and will work closely with physicians, surgeons, PAs, NPs, RNs and other allied health personnel. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be an integral part of program building and take a leadership role in an academic setting.

Qualifications

Education/Qualification Basic Life support and Advanced cardiac life support on hire or within one month of hiring. Obtain and maintain VAD certification when available. Demonstrate leadership ability. Flexible and able to adjust schedule to meet patient/staff needs. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Prior experience in critical care/intensive care nursing/cardiac surgery and or advanced heart failure highly preferred. Previous VAD experience highly desirable. BSN Required Skills Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner. Must be able to follow and understand instructions, and react favorably in all work situations. Must have strong interpersonal skills and be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people at various levels. Must be able to do math calculations and input data into the computer.
