THE OPPORTUNITY
Vir Biotechnology is looking for a Senior Research Associate (Temporary) to join our in vivo team for 7 months. In this role, you will independently plan and execute studies in mouse models of cancer, generate high-quality data to support drug discovery efforts, and contribute to advancing therapeutic candidates toward clinical development. The ideal candidate is an experienced in vivo researcher who can work with minimal supervision, troubleshoot experimental challenges, and effectively communicate results to cross-functional teams.
This role is located in our San Francisco headquarters with an expectation of 5 days per week in office.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Design, execute, and analyze in vivo efficacy, PK, and PD studies in animal models of cancer
• Perform tumor implantation, tumor and body weight measurements, compound administration, and biological sample collection
• Process, organize, analyze, and interpret experimental data, identifying trends and providing recommendations based on study outcomes
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and ensure compliance with company protocols and regulatory standards
• Present data and study findings to in vivo and cross-functional teams through team meetings and project discussions
• Collaborate with colleagues across discovery, translational, and development functions to support program objectives
• Support study planning, protocol development, and coordination of experimental activities
WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU BRING
• BS/MS/PhD in biological sciences with 3+ years academic or industry experience with significant hands-on experience with murine tumor models
• Demonstrated ability to independently execute and manage in vivo studies with limited oversight
• Proficiency in mouse handling, tumor measurement, dosing (IV, IP, and SQ injections), and blood sampling is required
• Proficiency in mouse necropsy, perfusion, tissue processing, and aseptic cell culture is preferred
• Experience analyzing and interpreting experimental data using common data analysis and visualization tools
• Strong scientific problem-solving, critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple studies simultaneously in a fast-paced research environment

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE OFFER
The expected hourly range for this position is $60 to $70 per hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors.
