SENIOR GPU FIRMWARE/SOSFTWARE ENGINEER Firmware/OS Driver Engineer - Data Center CPU/GPU Platforms THE ROLE: Join AMD’s Data Center Firmware Application team to support CPU/GPU deployments across Cloud, HPC, and OEM segments. You’ll work closely with customers, OEM partners, and internal engineering teams to enable AMD Instinct™ Accelerators on next-generation server platforms and ensure successful integration in data centers. THE PERSON: You have a strong foundation in embedded and firmware development , with expertise spanning GPU drivers and runtimes , OS kernel internals , microcontroller fundamentals , and hardware-level power and frequency controls . You excel at quantitative workload analysis , identifying performance bottlenecks, and collaborating across software stacks to deliver optimized, high-performance solutions . You’re a hands-on technical problem solver who thrives at the intersection of hardware and software . You enjoy working closely with customers and cross-functional engineering teams , transforming complex system challenges into clear, actionable solutions that drive results.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with OEM/ODM partners on CPU or GPU bring-up, validation, and deployment. Debug firmware, hardware, and driver issues; lead root-cause investigations. Develop tools to analyze CPU/GPU performance and correlate with hardware characteristics. Optimize AI software stack across hardware and upper layers. Support manufacturing and screening tests for reliability at scale. Create technical documentation, guidelines, and training materials.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Experience in firmware and embedded software development . Strong knowledge of system-level debug , hardware bring-up, and performance optimization. Familiarity with GPU architectures , OS kernel internals, and microcontroller fundamentals. Proficiency in C/C++ , scripting (Python, Bash), and Linux environments. Understanding of server architecture , BIOS settings, and boot processes. Experience with OpenCL, CUDA, or ROCm is a plus.
