About the Job
We are seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join our Bauxite & Alumina Centre of Excellence. You will bring experience in operations, consulting and/or process design engineering within the energy, chemicals, minerals or metals sectors, with alumina refinery experience highly regarded. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in process engineering and experience supporting studies, brownfield modifications, debottlenecking initiatives, operational improvement programs and capital projects. Familiarity with Bayer process operations, plant troubleshooting, process optimisation and delivering practical, fit-for-purpose solutions in an operating refinery environment will be highly valued.

What You'll Do
Support conceptual, pre-feasibility and detailed process engineering designs for greenfield and brownfield expansion projects. Develop process engineering deliverables including Design Criteria, Mass and Energy Balances, process simulations, calculations, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), datasheets, control philosophies and technical reports. Complete preliminary equipment sizing activities and engage with vendors to ensure selected equipment meets process requirements. Conduct technical bid evaluations and obtain budgetary quotations to support capital cost estimates. Support process evaluations and trade-off studies to justify major project decisions using multi-criteria assessment methodologies. Collaborate with Process Leads and multidisciplinary engineering teams in HAZID, HAZOP, 3D model reviews and other technical workshops to deliver high-value, optimised and inherently safe technical solutions with strong consideration of technical risk and economic viability. Work within company procedures, technical guidelines, quality assurance frameworks, safety requirements and project-specific standards. What You'll Have A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy or a related science discipline. Experience in hydrometallurgical processes, with Bayer processing experience preferred. Professional accreditation and compliance with local engineering registration requirements, or active progress towards achieving registration. Strong time management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively. Experience supporting front-end conceptual studies and pre-feasibility studies (preferred). Operational plant experience (advantageous). Experience using process simulation software such as METSIM, SysCAD, HSC or similar packages (advantageous). A demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development. Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
