The Role

An exciting opportunity within the client platform BIOS and Firmware team. The ideal candidate has experience in BIOS port, bring up, and support through product launch of client platforms   A candidate who has good x86 firmware architecture is a plus. Candidate should be a highly motivated, self-learning firmware engineer and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.   The Person: We are searching for a Firmware Engineer to  help with developing ,debugging and resolving AMD firmware issues in a timely manner to meet their schedules. Strong communication skills are very important. AMD's environment is fast paced, results oriented and built upon a legion of forward-thinking people with a passion for winning technology!

Key Responsibilities

Porting and bring up of UEFI BIOS. Able to work to a deadline in a fast-paced environment. Work to enable features, optimize BIOS performance and improve reliability. Able to multi-task between several customers.

Preferred Experience

Solid understanding of Linux OS (preferred), UEFI. BIOS, firmware. Experience porting BIOS to new platforms.  Experience performing system bring-ups, OS firmware interfaces, Expert at C language; knowledge of assembly Familiarity with x86 and ARM CPU/APU architectures and associated compile tools.  Must have strong system debugging skills. Able to read and interpret system schematics. Ability to work independently under tight deadlines, responding to changing business and technical conditions with minimal direction Excellent communication skills: verbal, written and interpersonal   Academic Credentials: BS-CS/BS-EE  or MS-CS/MS-EE with years experience with BIOS, firmware or system software development   This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.   #LI-DNI Benefits offered are described:  AMD benefits at a glance .   AMD does not accept unsolicited resumes from headhunters, recruitment agencies, or fee-based recruitment services.
