Standard Job Description The Firefighter EMT will drive, operate, and service firefighting apparatus, ambulance and equipment. They will perform pre- and post-trip inspections on, and maintain, fire vehicles, hoses, pumps, and PPE to ensure they are in optimal condition. They will respond immediately to fires, explosions, and hazardous-material spills, utilizing foam, water, and specialized firefighting equipment. They will identify, manage, and mitigate chemical leaks and dangerous gases, preventing contamination and spillage. They will perform daily inspections of facilities to ensure compliance with fire codes, safety regulations, and proper functioning of fire suppression systems like sprinklers and other specialized fire protection systems. They will participate in risk reduction activities such as issuance of hot work permits, system impairments, and assist in fire alarm testing / maintenance when requested. They will perform rescue operations for personnel, assist with emergency evacuations, and provide emergency medical assistance or first aid to injured individuals. They will participate in all required DCMA, OSHA, state-mandated trainings and Company trainings, attend safety meetings, drills, and required training simulations. The Airport Rescue Firefighter (ARFF) is responsible for ensuring safety and emergency response operations at all of our Connecticut locations that have flight operations. This role involves rapid response to aircraft emergencies, fire suppression, rescue operations, and maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations and safety protocols. Airport Rescue Firefighters will respond promptly to aircraft incidents and emergencies, including crashes, fire, and hazardous-material spills. Firefighters will also operate ARFF equipment effectively during emergency situations.
