What you will do
Johnson Controls is seeking a dynamic Chiller Engineering Manager to join our global Air Cooled Chiller Product Engineering team in New Freedom, PA. This is a unique opportunity to lead the development of next-generation chiller technologies that support customers around the world while driving innovation across a global product portfolio. This position is based onsite at our Advanced Engineering and Development Center in New Freedom, PA. Candidates must be commuting distance to the office, or able to relocate. Various relocation packages are available. In this highly visible leadership role, you will guide a talented engineering team through the design, development, and launch of new air-cooled chiller products while ensuring the continued success and evolution of existing platforms. You'll serve as the critical link between engineering, project management, and cross-functional stakeholders, aligning teams around strategic objectives, removing obstacles, and driving projects from concept to commercialization. You will be providing engineering leadership, fostering team alignment, shaping project plans, securing resources, and partnering with project managers to ensure successful execution. The remaining portion of the role involves serving as a trusted technical advisor, helping teams analyze complex engineering challenges, prioritize opportunities, and develop effective solutions. While this is primarily a leadership position, you'll also have opportunities to stay technically engaged, rolling up your sleeves when needed to troubleshoot issues, review data, and provide hands-on guidance to the team. How you will do it Maintains in-depth understanding of theories, concepts, technical principles and processes related to all aspects of air-cooled chillers Has proficiency in mechanical design and be able to conceptualize and implement design ideas into the product Leads engineering activities in refrigeration components selection and system design to meet product specification . Develops and executes test programs independently to verify performance and reliability of mechanical sub-components and systems Leads development and sustainment projects working with cross function al teams to ensure on-time completion of pro ject s Generates technical documentation for use within the company Serves as a technical expert to support product code/standard compliance efforts Possesses extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes related to air cooled chiller products and applies the philosophy of designing to standard manufacturing process Provides technical support to manufacturing, field trouble sho oting and application inquiries Mentors and supervise s junior engineers to effectively develop technical competency Strives for continuous improvement and teamwork in a global product development environment.
