Summer Intern - Maintenance - Indianapolis, Indiana Allegion is seeking a Maintenance intern to join our team for the summer of 2027. This is a great opportunity for a student to gain hands-on experience in a unique manufacturing and automation environment. This position will work closely with experienced engineers and technicians, contributing to real-world projects gaining valuable skills in industrial automation. What You Will Do
Apply lubrication, pneumatic and mechanical maintenance, and repairs on all machinery and equipment used in production and related services. Assist with development and troubleshooting of new and existing automation systems Support the installation, testing, and startup of new equipment on the manufacturing floor Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action for ME-related issues Operate simple test equipment, including, but not limited to: Multi-meter, tape measure, dial indicators, measurement tools. Fabricate equipment as needed, including cutting, welding, grinding. Ensure that proper safety procedures are used in maintaining and repairing of production equipment. Track and report on metrics for schedule attainment, machine downtime and WPO. Manage PM work order system and daily maintenance workload. Design, develop and implement fixturing, process tooling, and error proofing systems for use in various manufacturing equipment including assembly processes, parts feeding, bowl feeders, vision detection and recognition, coatings process, mechanical presses, hydraulic presses, rivet machines, orbital forming, testing equipment, robot integration, conveyors, scanning, and material movement automation. Participate in Engineering in installation of new robotic processes. What You Need to Succeed: Currently enrolled in a technical/electrical (industrial) training program, engineering technology, engineering, or related field of study Experience in or willingness to learn hands on electrical and computer diagnostic tools and systems Experience in or willingness to learn hands on use of mechanical tools and equipment Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail Good verbal and written communication skills Self-starter attitude; able to manage multiple small tasks under supervision Willingness to collaborate cross-functionally and support teams in a hands-on capacity in a manufacturing environment.
