Position Purpose The Assistant Grocery Manager assists in directing and supervising the daily operations of the Grocery Department to ensure outstanding customer service, maximum sales and profitability, effective merchandising, and compliance with Company policies and procedures. This position supports the Grocery Manager in leading department associates, maintaining inventory levels, and delivering a clean, safe, and well-stocked shopping environment.

Customer Service & Sales Demonstrate and promote exceptional customer service. Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally. Support sales growth through effective merchandising and execution of promotional programs. Ensure department conditions meet company standards for presentation and service. Department Operations Assist with the daily operation of Grocery, Dairy, Frozen, and related sales areas as assigned. Maintain proper inventory levels and in-stock conditions. Monitor product rotation, code dates, and freshness standards. Ensure compliance with merchandising plans, pricing integrity, and shelf maintenance. Assist in managing shrink and controlling department expenses. Leadership & Team Development Support hiring, training, coaching, and development of grocery associates. Provide direction and assign work responsibilities. Promote a positive and inclusive work environment. Assist with scheduling to ensure adequate staffing and business needs are met. Hold associates accountable to company performance and service standards. Safety & Compliance Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards. Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Assist with audits, inventory counts, and operational reviews. Report safety concerns, policy violations, and operational issues promptly. Financial Performance Assist in achieving department sales, labor, and profit goals. Monitor department productivity and operating expenses. Support inventory management and accurate ordering practices. Help implement plans to improve profitability and reduce shrink.
