Job Description
Hewlett Packard Enterprise is seeking an experienced Test Engineer to plan and develop the test requirements, diagnostics, automation, equipment and schedules required to support prototype builds and deliver a production-grade test process. In this role you will specify tests to be performed, provide test areas with parameters for sample testing, compile data, and define required changes to testing equipment, diagnostics, procedures, and manufacturing processes. You will apply developed subject matter expertise to solve common and sometimes complex technical problems, act as a project lead, exercise independent judgment, and provide guidance and assistance to lower-level professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Design engineering solutions to test and evaluate systems, equipment, and devices based on established engineering principles and in accordance with provided specifications and requirements. Develop and implement test plans, schedules, and requirements for all portions of new and existing designs. Design and provide leadership for outsourced and in-house testing resources building and operating test tooling, fixtures, scripts, automation, and apparatuses. Collaborate and communicate with management, internal teams, and outsourced testing and development partners regarding testing status, project progress, test results, and issue resolution. Lead a project team of test engineers and internal/outsourced testing partners to develop and execute reliable, cost-effective, high-quality test solutions for complex products and systems. Represent the test engineering team across all phases of larger and more complex development projects. Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced staff members.
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience. Typically, 4+ years of experience defining, designing, and implementing manufacturing hardware test plans for highly complex networking products. Experience coordinating test and debug efforts of CM or ODM manufacturing partners. Working knowledge of material properties and hardware and electrical component design. Experience applying empirical analysis, modeling, and testing methodologies to validate product designs and specifications. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot systems and equipment and to develop cost-effective methods of testing. Experience leading projects and mentoring junior engineers. Familiarity with test automation frameworks, diagnostics, and manufacturing process improvement in a networking hardware environment. Knowledge and Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English Ability to effectively communicate test plans, proposals, and results, and to negotiate options at management levels. Independent judgment and consultative approach to determining the best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives. Proficiency using testing tools and software packages to automate test and/or debug/failure analysis processes.
