Overview
The Future of Scalable Software Engineering (FoSSE) team in CoreAI, Microsoft, invites applications for postdoctoral researcher positions. FoSSE is an applied research team focused on solving real-world software engineering (SE) problems for large codebases, including code migration, code translation, and static analysis, using AI and formal methods. Our postdoc program provides an opportunity to work on practical research problems while collaborating closely with Microsoft researchers and product groups. Responsibilities
Postdocs spend 1-2 years with us and receive ongoing guidance and mentoring from experienced colleagues. We work at the intersection of programming language design, formal methods, static analysis, and AI. Applicants should have a strong background in one or both of the following tracks: PL track: Strong background in programming languages, compilers, or related areas, and an interest in combining AI with these techniques to solve SE problems at scale and with high quality. Reinforcement Learning (RL) track: Strong background in LLM post-training (e.g., RLHF, instruction tuning, alignment, evaluation) and an interest in applying these techniques to SE.
Qualifications
Required qualifications: Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related discipline.
