We’re looking for a Senior Piping Engineer to join our Mining, Minerals & Metals team in Brisbane. This is an opportunity to provide technical leadership across studies, sustaining capital works, brownfield modifications and major project developments within the mining and mineral processing sectors. You’ll work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, practical and high-quality piping engineering solutions that meet customer requirements, project objectives and industry standards.
Responsibilities
Deliver piping engineering services across studies, FEED, detailed design, construction and commissioning support. Provide technical leadership for piping design, specifications, calculations, material requisitions, scopes of work and engineering deliverables. Perform and review hydraulic calculations, slurry and process piping designs, pipe stress analysis, nozzle load assessments and ASME B31.3 code compliance. Review piping layouts, isometrics, support designs and 3D model deliverables across slurry, water and process networks. Support procurement activities including technical bid evaluations, vendor document reviews and purchase order development. Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, constructability reviews, model reviews and project meetings. Provide technical support during construction, commissioning and operational readiness activities. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, customers, suppliers, contractors and high-value engineering centres. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement and engineering best practice. Ensure the technical integrity, quality, and completeness of all piping engineering deliverables. What you’ll have Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline recognised in Australia. Mandatory RPEQ registration; CPEng status will be highly regarded. Significant piping engineering experience within mining, minerals, metals or mineral processing environments. Strong project delivery experience across FEED, detailed design, EPCM, construction and commissioning phases. Technical capability across slurry transport, process piping, mine dewatering, pipe stress, nozzle loads, piping supports and ASME B31.3. Experience preparing and reviewing piping specifications, datasheets, requisitions, scopes of work, layouts, isometrics and 3D model deliverables. Exposure to tools such as FluidFlow, AFT Fathom, CAESAR II, NozzlePRO, E3D, Smart3D or Plant3D will be highly regarded.
