Expert Service Center Technician

The Expert Service Center Technician is responsible for performing service activities at service center locations in a safe and efficient manner. This role includes working with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, assisting with shop and yard work, and ensuring a safe work environment. The position may occasionally interface with customers.

Maintain a safe working environment and culture Take care of company property and equipment Demonstrate accountability, innovation, and empowerment in all tasks Function effectively as part of a team and work independently with minimal supervision Lead, coach, and mentor junior technicians as needed Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems Assist with general shop and yard tasks as required Communicate clearly and professionally with coworkers and customers Travel to customer or job sites as needed (up to 20%) Education & Certifications Required: High school diploma or equivalent Capable of obtaining a CDL (Class A or B) with applicable endorsements – preferred, not required Preferred: Technical or trade school background Technical certifications, industry-specific licenses, or military technical experience Experience 3–7 years of technical experience in mechanical, electrical, or plumbing work Experience with customer service Experience working independently without direct supervision Skills & Competencies Strong mechanical, electrical, or plumbing skillset Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems Critical thinking and problem-solving skills Ability to synthesize technical information and communicate it clearly Microsoft Office proficiency Strong safety awareness and adherence to procedures High-Impact Behaviors Continuous Professional Development: Seek opportunities for self-improvement and stay updated on industry trends Collaboration & Teamwork: Work well with others, contribute to team goals, and value diverse perspectives Results-Driven Performance: Focus on achieving objectives efficiently and effectively Driving & Travel Requirements Ability to complete driver-related forms and background checks Clean driving record DOT Medical Card – if applicable Travel up to 20%, including occasional overnight stays Work Environment Outdoor work is required Shop and yard work included Physical activity may include lifting, standing, and moving equipment Who We Are Looking For: Xylem is seeking mechanically inclined professionals who are passionate about hands-on work and problem-solving.
