 The Senior Sourcing Engineer is responsible for optimizing the supplier base and delivering sustainable material cost reduction through localization, dual sourcing, value analysis/value engineering (VAVE), cost analysis, commercial negotiation and total cost ownership. The role leads and executes supply chain strategies for complex productivity and new product development projects, working with cross-functional teams to evaluate strategic alternatives for new technologies, parts and subassemblies, develop the right suppliers, and improve supplier quality, delivery, cost, inventory and on-time delivery performance.     Lead and participate in cross-functional teams to plan and execute complex productivity, localization and new product development projects, aligned with division and site supply chain and operational strategies. Work with Research and Development, Supplier Quality Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Finance and Planning to complete supplier selection and assessment, quotations, commercial negotiations and new-part release. Identify and communicate relevant technical trends, materials and process opportunities to commodity managers, buyers, project teams and engineering. Engage suppliers early in concept and design reviews; evaluate design alternatives, make-versus-buy scenarios, cost, lead time, capital requirements and development timing. Manage pre-production sourcing activities, including non-disclosure agreements, requests for quotation, supplier negotiations, purchase orders, prototype tracking, samples, trial runs, first article inspections and production part approval processes. Drive year-over-year material price reduction through localization, dual-source development, VAVE, hard negotiation and other total-cost improvement opportunities. Lead localization and cost-reduction projects to schedule; communicate status and deliverable quality, identify dependencies and risks, and implement mitigation plans. Review supplier performance monthly, drive continuous improvement, support annual audits of key suppliers, and optimize the supplier base for quality, delivery and cost. Support supply chain management to improve delivery reliability, shorten lead time, improve on-time delivery, reduce days on hand, and manage phase-in/phase-out and inventory during the transition to production. Negotiate and manage supplier commercial and contract terms, including master purchase agreements, non-disclosure agreements and other applicable supplier agreements. Provide management reporting and analysis on spend, cost reduction and major product bill-of-material cost. Distribute and manage technical drawings and procurement material requirements with suppliers, and perform other duties assigned by management.   Qualifications: 
 Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution; a strong technical background is required. Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing or operations experience in the mechanical industry, including sourcing or supply chain management experience supporting engineering, new product development or complex productivity projects. Knowledge of low-voltage electrical products is preferred. Strong understanding of process and material technologies, technical drawings, supplier sourcing processes, cost and bill-of-material analysis, first article inspection, production part approval processes, office software and enterprise resource planning systems.
