Job Overview
The Executive Development Program provides recent graduates with valuable hands-on experience while preparing them for a career at Macy's. Through a combination of structured training, real-world business exposure, and meaningful project work, participants become integral members of a collaborative, performance-driven team that encourages innovation and the sharing of new ideas. As part of the Product Development team, you will support the execution of private brand assortment strategies that drive sales growth and profitability. The team is responsible for developing and managing Macy's Private Brand programs, partnering closely with Buying, Sourcing, Design, and other cross-functional teams to bring product concepts to market while achieving brand, cost, quality, and margin objectives. Key responsibilities include supporting assortment execution, participating in milestone meetings, and helping ensure products align with brand standards, customer expectations, and financial goals.
Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be placed into an Assistant-level position. The Executive Development Program is a hybrid role based in Macy's New York City corporate offices, with start dates offered throughout the year based on business needs.
What You Will Do
Receive professional development through a combination of hands-on learning, structured workshops, and collaborative projects
Build relationships with business leaders and team colleagues
Assist in managing and tracking all meeting samples requested for area of responsibility
Partner with overseas offices, vendors, and cross-functional teams to support sample management, product development milestones, and timely execution of deliverables
Review sample execution with team
Assist in creating initial styles in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system & Order Management System (OMS)
Support in preparation for Mid-Point / Pre-Line Review, Line Review Meetings and Post Buy Recap meetings
Assist in keying assortment purchase orders (PO) as well as managing and tracking POs throughout the season
Work with Product Associate to update IMU Roll-Up throughout the season
Competitive shop to understand competitor assortment
Regular, dependable attendance & punctuality
Qualifications and Competencies
Senior pursuing a bachelor's degree with a strong academic record; minimum 3.0 GPA preferred. All majors will be considered.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including storytelling, presentation, influencing, and relationship-building abilities.
Strong retail math, financial acumen, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze sales, margin, inventory productivity, profitability, and other key business metrics; identify trends; interpret financial information; and translate insights into actionable business recommendations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills required, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, reporting, and data analysis.
Basic understanding of merchandising, assortment planning, financial performance metrics, and the application of profitability and statistical concepts to business decisions.
Ability to read, interpret, and analyze reports, procedures, and other business documents, and effectively utilize business systems and tools.
Ability to independently manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced
