Provides strong technical expertise and project leadership within the designated company area or specific engineering discipline. Possess and applies advanced knowledge of the subject matter and significant relevant experience to independently perform difficult and the most complex technical work. Responsible for providing expert technical support, direction and advice for the development of projects, programs and engineering products. Performs engineering evaluations, calculations, analysis and design to support the requirements of the designated company area or specific engineering discipline. Exercises independent judgment and decision making to solve complex engineering problems and to manage multifaceted complex projects, including scoping, scheduling, budget development, cost tracking and oversight to meet cost and time objectives. Requires significant experience as a technical lead as well as specialized certifications, education, knowledge or experience required by the work. Implements technology within an engineering field. Focuses on the practical application of engineering theories. Determines how to make the designs and plans of engineers work. Applies basic scientific and engineering principles and methods, along with technical skills, to support engineering activities. May perform product improvement, testing, field engineering, development, manufacturing, construction, systems development, quality control, and operational engineering. May perform some design and theoretical work, but does not possess the educational background required to function as an Engineer. May perform same work as titled Engineers, but possesses an engineering degree which is not ABET-accredited. The candidate will provide technical support for Dominion Energy Electric Transmission field operations, focusing on transformers, switches, breakers, voltage regulators, circuit breakers, and instrument transformers from managing vendor relationships, to operation, to decommissioning, and (when applicable) root cause analyses (RCA). As novel challenges arise, the candidate develops the necessary knowledge base and engineering capabilities to address them. Candidates should have 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, with knowledge of technical principles and practices, preferably in electric power systems. A working knowledge of SAP software is also preferred. Job Responsibilities
Equipment supplier relationship building & maintenance, provide support to ensure production capacity is maintained for Dominion Energy's requirements, and strive to mitigate supplier lock-in Develop & document design requirements of major substation equipment and maintain with Annual reviews Perform design reviews and factory acceptance tests (FATs) of equipment while in production for domestic and international suppliers Analyze & support the qualification of new suppliers of equipment Provide support to the equipment procurement processes Support Dominion field organizations in:
responses to equipment emergencies material specification design validation and innovation root cause analysis (RCAs) of failure events commissioning & decommissioning develop training and/or guidelines to support field organizations’ maintenance and response to system events relating to substation equipment
