The Opportunity
Abbott is seeking a Manager, Procurement to lead strategic sourcing and purchasing activities that ensure the timely delivery of goods and services while optimizing cost, quality, and supplier performance. This role will partner with business stakeholders to develop procurement strategies, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and lead a team responsible for supporting critical business and operational objectives.
What You'll Work On
Lead procurement and purchasing activities to ensure goods, materials, and services meet organizational requirements for quality, cost, delivery, and reliability. Partner with business leaders and internal stakeholders to forecast demand and align procurement strategies with business needs. Develop sourcing plans, budgets, cost estimates, and procurement schedules to support organizational priorities. Evaluate, select, and manage suppliers to ensure strong performance, competitive pricing, and reliable service. Negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial terms for significant purchases within established authority limits. Develop and implement procurement policies, processes, standards, and supplier evaluation frameworks. Analyze purchasing trends, spend data, and supplier performance metrics to identify cost savings and process improvement opportunities. Monitor market conditions, pricing trends, and new supplier capabilities to mitigate risk and improve value. Build and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors. Lead, coach, and develop a team of procurement professionals, ensuring goals, priorities, and performance expectations are achieved.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, Operations, or a related field. 7+ years of procurement, sourcing, purchasing, or supply chain experience. Experience leading supplier selection, sourcing events, contract negotiations, and supplier relationship management. Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess spending trends, supplier performance, and cost-saving opportunities. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and influence cross-functional stakeholders. Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills. Proficiency with ERP, procurement, or purchasing systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of people leadership experience, including coaching, developing, and managing performance. Experience leading procurement activities within a manufacturing, healthcare, medical device, or regulated industry environment. Professional certification such as CPSM, CPM, CSCP, or equivalent.
