About this role
We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Vice President, Product Management to join our Product Management team. This role is located in Zurich. Regulatory Requirement As part of our EU and Swiss digital asset custody framework, regulators (JST/NBB for EU and FINMA for Switzerland) each require that certain digital‑asset transactions and control activities be independently reviewed and approved by a designated, in‑country control function . This oversight role purpose is to ensure the local BNY legal entity has control of “outsourced” activities. This requirement is explicitly embedded in our go-to operating model and regulatory submissions and is aligned to supervisory expectations under MiCA, the Transfer of Funds Regulation, FINMA, JST/NBB, and related EU governance and operational‑resilience standards. The role serves as a formal, regulator‑visible control point to ensure that digital‑asset activity is executed within the approved legal‑entity perimeter, policies, and risk tolerances. Purpose of the Role The Digital Assets Business Officer acts as the first‑line, independent control authority for regulated digital‑asset activity within the local entity. The role is not a general operations position; rather, it is a specialized control function designed to ensure that digital‑asset instructions meet regulatory, financial‑crime, and governance requirements before execution. In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
Serve as the designated in‑country control officer for regulated digital‑asset transactions, including review and approval of transactions that require EU‑based oversight. Enforce policy‑driven controls across wallet usage, transaction approvals, sanctions and blockchain screening, and Travel Rule compliance. Act as an escalation and challenge point with authority to approve, reject, or halt activity that does not meet regulatory or risk requirements. Provide evidence‑based controls and documentation to support regulatory reviews, audits, and ongoing supervisory engagement . Partner closely with Operations, Compliance, AML, Risk, Legal, and Technology to ensure the operating model remains compliant as products scale. Support after‑hours and cross‑border delegation models while maintaining regulator‑approved control standards.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
Required
Experience in financial crime compliance, payments controls, digital asset operations, or regulatory oversight
Strong understanding of AML/CTF requirements and the Travel Rule Familiarity with blockchain analytics tools (Chainalysis, Elliptic) Strong judgement in control environments; ability to challenge, escalate, or stop transactions Ability to work independently within regulatory frameworks Excellent documentation and communication skills
Preferred
Prior experience in EU‑regulated financial institutions (Belgium/Swiss preferred) Exposure to DAC, crypto‑asset custody, or Fireblocks operational workflows Experience interfacing with regulators or internal audit
