Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Water/Wastewater Process Engineering Graduate for a newly created position to be based in Kitchener, Ontario . This position is expected to being in May 2027 . The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Perform assignments requiring the application of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to support water and wastewater treatment projects. Undertake preliminary and detailed engineering design activities for water and wastewater infrastructure under the supervision of an experienced engineer (e.g., process design calculations, mass balances, hydraulic profiles, PFDs/P&IDs, layout sketches). Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer. Assist with equipment selection and and coordination with suppliers and vendors, including technical reviews and comparison of alternatives. Preparation of technical specifications, special provisions, and forms of tender. Collect, validate and analyze technical data (e.g., flow, loading, water quality) and assist with interpreting results to inform design. Use engineering software and tools to solve basic engineering problems (e.g., spreadsheets, CAD/model review, and entry-level process/hydraulic modeling). Perform tasks in alignment with agreed scope, schedule, and budget, documenting assumptions and decisions. Prepare concise technical memos and reports to support project deliverables. Assist with quantity take-offs and cost estimate developments; review estimates for completeness and accuracy under supervision. Assist with contract administration tasks during the construction of water and wastewater infrastructure and facilities (e.g., submittal reviews, RFIs, shop drawings, site observations) under supervision. Coordinate design inputs and information exchanges with internal multidisciplinary teams; communicate status, issues and needs proactively. Apply quantity and safety procedures, participate in QA/QC reviews, and escalate complex issues or deviations for guidance. Assist with preparing technical specifications, special provisions, and tender/contract documents under direction. Actively engage in professional development, training, and knowledge-sharing; show initiative in taking on new responsibilities as skills develop.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering or other related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Eligible to apply for P.Eng. with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) within four years. Co-op/internship or project experience supporting water or wastewater treatment processes.
