Be able to develop rudimentary data entry skill to input their daily dairies and machine production counts. Have corrected vision that will enable them to: Read a factory order card Compare a print card to a printed box Distinguish imperfections in a printed box Read all signs posted in the plant and on the machines View oncoming traffic in ceiling mounted mirrors Read warning labels on package containers Read M.S.D.S. sheets Accurately read a tape rule to 1/16th graduations Have the ability to distinguish colors and discern different hues of the same color to compare them to color swatches to ensure the print is of the correct hue. Also be able to tell the difference in colors of the various Start/Stop buttons and safety and warning lights in the plant. Have the ability to hear warning buzzers, sirens and other employees in the plant floor environment. Have the ability to repeatedly step up and down from the conveyor system, which is raised approximately 11 inches from the plant floor. They must be able to repeatedly navigate across the conveyor system on crosswalks approximately 3 ½ inches wide. Have basic math skills; addition, subtraction, division & multiplication. Must be able to tie a bundling knot. This requires finger dexterity and twisting of the wrist and forearms as well as a pulling motion with the arms and upper back to tighten then cut the twine. Must wear Personal Protective Equipment as required by each job task. Eye protection and hearing protection (plugs, muffs) are required at all times on the production room floor. Kevlar gloves are required when there is any danger of being cut, such as working around blades or banding (plastic or metal) All employees are required to wear a red S.A.F.E. hat or visor during their probationary period any time they are on the production room floor. All employees will, during the course of their employment, encounter handling 48” x 48” pallets weighing approximately 50 lbs. On some jobs it is done repetitively. Physical requirements include, but are not limited to: Standing for long periods of time Sitting for long periods of time Bending (sometimes repeatedly) Squatting or kneeling (sometimes repeatedly) Repetitive motion or twisting in the hands, wrists, upper and lower arms, shoulders, waist and back. Gripping while using various hand tools, turning various adjustment knobs and dials, clearing jams and picking up handfuls of sheets. Ability to work in varying climactic conditions such as; hot humid temperatures during summer months, cold conditions in winter, dry, wet, windy, seasonal changes, inside or outside. Job Tasks Required to pass a written and driving test to obtain an operator’s license. Must possess the ability to quickly familiarize themselves to differences in the controls of several trucks.
