OpenShift & DevOps Engineer Experience: 5–8 years Role Overview We are seeking an experienced OpenShift Engineer to deploy, configure, operate, and support application stacks on Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes platforms. The role requires strong hands-on experience in containerized application deployment, CI/CD enablement, release automation, troubleshooting, and production support in enterprise environments. The candidate will work with application, DevOps, infrastructure, and operations teams to ensure reliable stack deployment, environment readiness, deployment automation, and operational stability across non-production and production environments. Key Responsibilities
Deploy, configure, and manage application stacks on Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes platforms. Support end-to-end containerized application deployment across development, test, staging, and production environments. Create and maintain deployment manifests, Helm charts, templates, ConfigMaps, Secrets, routes, services, and persistent volume configurations. Build and support CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or equivalent tools for automated build, deployment, promotion, and rollback. Coordinate release deployments, environment promotions, application validations, and post-deployment checks. Troubleshoot deployment failures, pod issues, image pull errors, networking issues, storage issues, pipeline failures, and application runtime errors. Work with developers and operations teams to onboard applications to OpenShift and improve deployment reliability. Automate repetitive deployment and operational activities using Shell, Bash, Python, or Ansible. Monitor application health, logs, resource utilization, and platform events to support incident resolution and service availability. Maintain deployment runbooks, SOPs, configuration documents, release notes, and operational handover documents.
Required Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology. 5–8 years of relevant experience in OpenShift, Kubernetes, DevOps, release engineering, or application deployment support. Strong hands-on experience in deploying and supporting application stacks on Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes. Good understanding of OpenShift resources including projects/namespaces, pods, deployments, services, routes, ConfigMaps, Secrets, PVCs, and RBAC. Experience with container images, image registries, build configurations, deployment configurations, and application rollout strategies. Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, Tekton, or similar platforms. Working knowledge of Git, branching strategies, release tagging, artifact promotion, and deployment governance. Experience in Linux administration, shell scripting, networking basics, DNS, certificates, and application connectivity troubleshooting. Ability to analyze logs, events, pipeline output, pod status, resource limits, and application errors to resolve deployment issues. Strong communication, documentation, coordination, and problem-solving skills in a multi-team delivery environment.
Good to Have Skills
Exposure to AWS, Microsoft Azure, or hybrid cloud infrastructure environments. Knowledge of Helm, Kustomize, Argo CD, OpenShift GitOps, or OpenShift Pipelines. Experience with Infrastructure as Code or automation tools such as Ansible or Terraform. Exposure to monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, ELK, or OpenShift monitoring stack. Awareness of container security practices, image scanning, secrets
