What you'll build Help the world's leading platform for portraying and analyzing sailing regattas become a successful open-source project on GitHub. You will secure the platform, keep frameworks and components up-to-date, and improve the automation of cloud processes to provide solutions for sailing events and other users. Join our team to support the open-source community in onboarding the project. 1. Open-Source Launch and Security:
Help successfully publish Sailing Analytics as an open-source project on GitHub Address security improvements based on Threat Modeling findings, both before and after publishing Focus on security, primarily through Java development
2. Technology Showcases and Prototypes
Use SAP Sailing Analytics and its rich data collected in over 40,000 races to create technology showcases and prototypes, such as the AI Sailing Commentator Focus on data science, large language models (LLMs), and machine learning
3. Maintainer Role
Help fulfill the "maintainer" role for SAP post-publication of the Sailing Analytics open-source project Work across the full stack of the solution, including cloud infrastructure management, application logic, analytics use cases, UI, web clients, and companion apps like Sail Insight built with React Native technology Collaborate with the open-source community on GitHub, review pull requests and help ensure the quality and security of the solution
4. Event Support (Optional)
Optionally support sailing events on-site Help operate the software, manage race infrastructure, and interact with users and other on-site partners, such as race management, tracking infrastructure, and wind sensor handling
What you bring
Student (f/m/d) at a university or a university of applied sciences in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field Computer skills:
Solid foundational knowledge in computer science and software engineering methodology Solid experience in Java First experience in building web applications
Language skills: Fluent German or English Soft skills:

In addition, we provide expertise with tech evaluations and develop proof-of-concepts for strategic technology topics. Our team consists of about 65 colleagues who are students, young professionals, and experienced professionals in the areas of software development, design, project management and team/management assistance. We work in teams that are mainly located in Potsdam/Berlin and Walldorf and collaborate closely with other SAP teams to realize our mission. It allows regatta hosts, athletes, coaches and fans to follow live, portray and comment, analyze and understand sailing regattas in unprecedented ways. With its unparalleled high-quality sailing tracking database it serves as the foundation for various SAP technology showcases. Your set of application documents should contain a cover
