Job Description

We deliver energy and renewable solutions across the full project lifecycle — from concept to commissioning — including transmission and distribution infrastructure and thermal and renewable energy facilities. As an intern, you will support our engineers and designers on real projects, building your skills in a structured, hands-on environment under close supervision. How you’ll make a difference: Support the design and optimisation of mechanical systems for a diverse portfolio of energy clients by assisting with tasks such as equipment sizing, layout reviews, and drawing mark-ups under guidance. Apply your mechanical engineering coursework to perform basic engineering calculations, help analyse mechanical equipment, and assist with pipe stress model setup and checks as directed. Assist in preparing project documentation — including datasheets, calculations, specifications, and design notes — ensuring version control and quality procedures are followed. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (electrical, civil/structural, process, and project management) by contributing inputs, documenting meetings, and coordinating information flow. Gain exposure to all project stages — feasibility, concept design, detailed engineering, construction support, and commissioning — by completing defined tasks, learning from technical experts, and contributing to low‑carbon energy solutions. What Our Summer Internship Program Offers 12-week paid internship (mid-November to mid-February) Real project experience: Contribute to meaningful work and apply your university learning to real-world projects from day one. Exposure to iconic projects: Be part of projects that help shape communities, cities and infrastructure across Australia and New Zealand. AECOM Summer Series: Connect with senior leaders from across our business through an exclusive program of presentations providing insight into different career pathways and areas of expertise. Work alongside technical experts: Work alongside graduates, technical experts, and industry leaders. Be part of a global business: Experience the benefits of working for a global consultancy, with opportunities to collaborate across teams, markets and geographies. Pathway to graduate employment: Successful interns may be considered for future graduate opportunities, providing a direct pathway
