About the Opportunity This is an open position within FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. The reporting location for this onsite position is FirstEnergy’s corporate headquarters, located at 341 White Pond Drive, Akron, OH 44320. This position reports to the Director of Tax Planning and is expected to support multiple functions within the Tax Department, including tax planning and business unit support, tax accounting, and tax compliance. This onsite position is based at the Corporate Office in Akron, Ohio. Responsibilities include: Participating in the preparation and distribution of various monthly internal reports Participating in the preparation, documentation and analysis of the Company's periodic SEC and regulatory reporting and disclosures, specifically management’s discussion and analysis Participating in the preparation of supporting materials for investor relations Participating in the preparation and analysis of annual budgets and forecasts Providing support and assistance to external auditors Conducting ad hoc research, analyzing data, interpreting results, and providing financial analysis to senior management for various ad hoc projects Develop solutions to improve the accuracy or efficiency of complex business processes and /or projects Interfacing with and support various departments within the organization (state finance, rates and regulatory affairs, investor relations, treasury, etc.) Consistently anticipating and delivering against a defined action plan Understanding the financial and strategic goals of FirstEnergy Alignment with FirstEnergy’s Core Values and Behaviors as well as priorities of the Finance organization Maintaining a safe workplace for coworkers and the community based upon knowledge of potential hazards and industry regulations/requirements Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field required. MBA or relevant master’s degree a plus Minimum 4 years’ relevant work experience required Strong financial acumen and analytical skills and the ability to connect financial data to business decisions Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); advanced knowledge of Excel a plus SAP knowledge is preferred Strong understanding of financial cost flows / concepts Familiarity with QlikView or other reporting tools Excellent written and oral communication skills Utility or regulated industry experience a plus Demonstrate a questioning attitude to learn, produce results and develop relationships Desire to learn, grow and work across FirstEnergy and deliver results Ability to anticipate questions ahead of time (think and act proactively) Superior analytical abilities Ability to formally present complex subject matter to all levels of management Maintains a continuous improvement mindset and seeks opportunities to improve and enhance processes in a self-directed manner Ability to manage multiple tasks/duties while maintaining accuracy and timeliness Foster a culture of learning by actively sharing knowledge/expertise and supporting team development Benefits, Compensation & Workforce Diversity At FirstEnergy, employees are key to our success.
