Company: QT Technologies Ireland Limited Job Area: Engineering Group, Engineering Group > ASICS Engineering General Summary: As a Linux Platform & HLOS Stack Developer, you will work within a distributed team to develop, maintain, and enable custom Linux-based software stacks for next-generation SoCs and development platforms. You will focus on Linux kernel development, platform bring-up, boot firmware integration, device drivers, system enablement, and low-level debugging, collaborating closely with silicon, validation, and software teams to ensure reliable platform operation, performance, and observability. Technical Skills and Expertise Strong understanding of Linux internals, including scheduling, memory management, interrupt handling, filesystems, and system initialization. Proficiency in C, ARM Assembly, and Linux build systems. Experience with Linux kernel development, debugging, and customization. Understanding of SoC boot flows, bootloaders, firmware, and Linux bring-up. Experience with Linux Device Tree development and board/platform configuration. Hands-on experience with hardware debugging tools such as JTAG debuggers (i.e. Lauterbach Trace32 [T32]), or equivalent. Experience developing telemetry, monitoring, and instrumentation tools for system debugging, performance analysis, and validation. Experience with Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages for automation and tooling. Familiarity with Git, CI/CD workflows, and modern software development practices. Experience with filesystem management, image creation/modification, flashing, and software deployment processes. Role and Responsibilities Enable and maintain a custom Linux software stack used for platform enablement, validation, and characterization. Develop, maintain, and optimize kernel drivers and low-level platform software. Debug complex issues spanning hardware, firmware, bootloaders, Linux kernel, and userspace components. Develop and maintain Device Tree configurations and platform-specific software components. Design and implement telemetry, monitoring, and automation tools to improve system observability and diagnostics. Build tooling that interacts with hardware debuggers and platform interfaces to collect, analyze, and automate system data collection. Collaborate with silicon, firmware, performance, and validation teams to identify, root-cause, and resolve platform issues. Develop tools and workflows that improve platform stability, usability, and engineering productivity. Level of Responsibility Autonomy: Work independently with minimal supervision while driving platform enablement and debugging efforts. Communication: Communicate complex technical concepts effectively across multidisciplinary teams. Influence: Contribute to platform architecture, software design, and debugging methodologies. Task Management: Manage multiple bring-up, development, and support activities across hardware programs. Innovation: Develop new tools, telemetry solutions, and automation frameworks to improve engineering efficiency. Problem Solving: Diagnose and resolve complex hardware/software integration issues across the full platform stack.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field. 5+ years of experience in Linux kernel development, embedded Linux, BSP development, platform enablement, or systems software. Experience with hardware bring-up, post-silicon validation, or low-level platform debugging. Experience using Lauterbach Trace32 (T32) or similar hardware debug environments. Experience developing telemetry, observability, or performance monitoring solutions for embedded or high-performance systems.
