Short Description SECOND SHIFT You will be the Optical Coater for the Optical Components Center(OCC) within Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control (MFC) in Orlando, FL. Job Description What You Will Be Doing As the Optical Coater, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Interpreting manufacturing process plans, engineering drawings, and MIL specifications to perform coating on lenses, prisms, mirrors, shop aids, and test plates Operating and maintaining coating equipment for single and multi-layer thin film applications, ensuring repeatable thickness and optical performance Performing visual inspections, metrology checks, and documentation of all process parameters and results in electronic tracking systems Troubleshooting coating defects, adjusting process variables, and implementing corrective actions to sustain quality and yield Following safety protocols, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations at all times Supporting 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift schedules as required by the UAW collective-bargaining agreement Collaborating with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to drive continuous-improvement initiatives, including process automation and waste reduction Assisting with inventory control of coating consumables, substrates and tooling Participating in cross-training programs to increase workforce agility and eliminate single points of failure Basic Qualifications Basic Qualifications: Must have the ability to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift according to the collective bargaining agreement Experience using hand tools or precision machining tools The ability to test parts to ensure they meet finishes specifications The ability to clean all types of optical elements to specified optical specifications Must have the ability to read and follow written work instructions, schematics, and engineering drawings and work efficiently in a team environment Due to facility requirements, must be a U.S. Citizen Desired Skills Desired Skills: Prior experience with optics at the technician level is strongly desired Experience with optical alignment and optical metrology Experience with optical coating Experience with interferometers and spectrometers Experience working as an optician with CNC machines Familiarity with the following items is desired: optical elements, lenses, rough and finish grind flats, mirrors, shop aids, test plates, and special shaped elements Experience with MIL-PERF-13830B and other related Optical MIL specifications Pay Information $27.04 - $43.42 At Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people.
