Midwest Center for Youth and Families is seeking a Director of Assessment/Referral to join our team! Available Hours: (exempt/salaried position) Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm Midwest Center for Youth and Families (a subsidiary of UHS) has been in operation since 1997, serving youth across the country that are in need of psychiatric treatment for variety of mental health issues. The Midwest Center is a respected healthcare provider, fully accredited, 74-bed private, residential treatment facility with locations in Valparaiso and Kouts, IN. Website: https://midwest-center.com/ Position Summary: Responsible for overseeing the intake, clinical assessment, and referral processes. Ensures that individuals seeking services receive timely, accurate evaluations. This role leads the assessment team, manages relationships with referral sources (hospitals, courts, community mental health centers, schools, and other providers), and ensures compliance with state licensing requirements, payer guidelines, and accreditation standards. Job Duties/Responsibilities • Oversee the admissions/intake process from initial contact through assessment and admission decision. • Supervise and train assessment/referral staff • Conduct or review clinical/diagnostic assessments to determine appropriate level of care and treatment placement. • Develops and maintains referral relationships with hosptials, courts, DCS, probation, schools, and community providers. • Ensure compliance with state regulations, Medicaid requirements, and facility licensing standards. • Monitor bed capacity, census, and admission flow to optimize occupancy and resource utilization. • Coordinate with clincial, medical, and ultilization review teams to support continuity of care. • Track and report key performance metrics. • Manage crisis/urgent referral situations, including risk assessment for admission appropriateness. • Ensure documentation meets regulatory, insurance, and accreditation requirements. • Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to access and admission.
