Position
Overview Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Senior Manager, Forward Deployed Platform Engineering to lead the design, build, automation, security, and operation of cloud-based engineering platforms that enable fast, reliable, and compliant digital product delivery across enterprise technology environments. This role will provide organizational, people, and technical leadership for platform capabilities, infrastructure as code, cloud infrastructure operations, container platforms, developer self-service, observability, release enablement, and production reliability. The successful candidate will lead and develop engineering talent while partnering with software engineering, cybersecurity, quality, architecture, operations, vendors, and external technology partners to improve developer experience, platform resilience, operational controls, and delivery speed. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in platform engineering, cloud platforms, automation, Kubernetes, infrastructure provisioning, developer tooling, monitoring, incident response, secure engineering practices, and production support within regulated enterprise environments, together with demonstrated people leadership, stakeholder influence, external engagement, and the ability to create clarity and momentum in ambiguous situations.
Key Responsibilities
People Leadership & Organization Development Lead, coach, and develop a diverse team of platform engineers, setting clear objectives, providing timely feedback, and building sustainable succession and capability plans. Own workforce planning, talent acquisition, onboarding, performance management, engagement, retention, and career development for the platform engineering organization. Create an inclusive, accountable, and high-performing culture that encourages technical excellence, experimentation, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning. Balance delivery priorities, team capacity, technical debt, and operational commitments while empowering leaders and engineers to make effective decisions. Platform Automation & Developer Enablement Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines that support secure, repeatable, and automated application delivery across development, test, validation, and production environments. Automate build, test, deployment, configuration, release, rollback, and environment provisioning processes to reduce manual effort and delivery risk. Partner with engineering teams to integrate
