About this Role
We are seeking a hands\-on Software/Embedded Systems Engineer to join our UAS development team\. This role focuses primarily on developing C software running on embedded Linux platforms, integrating sensors and avionics, and working closely with hardware\. Candidates should be comfortable working directly with physical systems, performing hardware/software integration, and developing applications using frameworks such as ROS/ROS2\. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys practical engineering, system\-level debugging, contributing to advanced UAS capabilities, and supporting both next\-generation technologies and proven platforms used to protect deployed warfighters\.
Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain C software for UAS systems running on embedded Linux platforms\.
* Implement and integrate ROS/ROS2 nodes for autonomy, perception, control, mission management, or sensor handling\.
* Participate in software development across all phases of the lifecycle—from concept development through lab integration, evaluation, and field testing\.
* Perform hands\-on hardware integration, including connecting sensors, payloads, communication modules, compute hardware, and embedded control systems\.
* Troubleshoot system\-level issues involving software, hardware interfaces, networking, and real\-time constraints\.
* Work cohesively on multi\-functional teams to deliver reliable, performant, and well\-validated system functionality under dynamic, fast\-paced program needs\.
* Participate in design reviews and contribute to software architecture, system design improvements, and development best practices\.
Level I
* Currently pursuing or completed B\.S\. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
Required Skills
* Strong proficiency in C \.
* Experience developing on embedded Linux platforms\.
* Ability to debug complex system interactions across hardware and software\.
* Understanding of embedded systems concepts \(I/O interfaces, timing, networking, real\-time application considerations\)\.
* Familiarity with software configuration management, defect tracking, and continuous integration tools \(e\.g\., GitLab, Jenkins\)\.
* Ability to obtain and maintain a U\.S\. security clearance\.
Desired Qualifications
* Experience with UAS, autopilots, and integration \(PX4, ArduPilot\)
* Experience working with ROS/ROS2\.
* Demonstrated hands\-on hardware experience \(sensor integration, interfaces, debugging, lab equipment usage\)
* Experience coding in Python
