About this role

Are you a parts professional captivated by the dynamic changes in the industry and want to work for an organization that is focused on delivering the next generation of fleet management and mobility? The City of Seattle is seeking a Fleet Parts Specialist (Senior Warehouser-BU) to join our team of highly skilled professionals that ensure vehicles stay on the road to help City departments provide services to Seattle residents.

The Fleet Parts Specialist is a linchpin of shop operations and joins other fleet professionals from the mechanic, body, and metal shops to ensure that the City’s equipment is safe to use and available when needed. This is a very collaborative role, with a focus on partnering with others to get the right part the first time, when it is needed. An average day will be comprised of several different duties and activities. These may change daily, based on operational needs, so flexibility and being proactive is essential. Good communication is a key to operational efficiency, both within the parts team and when communicating with the shops. Similarly, accuracy is critical. There are a lot of moving pieces in the Fleet Operations environment, so the ability to manage time and quickly shift gears is a highly valued skill.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of the mechanical parts of a wide variety of vehicles, equipment, and components, will be self-motivated, able to work under general guidance to support overall team goals, and will be available to work assigned shifts between the hours of 6:00am-midnight. Shift assignments are rotated based on operational needs. All fleet operations personnel are part of city emergency responses and must be available for overtime and on-call schedules when needed.
