Job Description

Summary The Assistant Director, Sport Programs is responsible for increasing the participation and diversity of Campus Recreation intramural, club sports, and special events programs and participants. Collaborates with Campus Life partners (i.e. Wellbeing, Res Life, Student Engagement, Global Programs & Studies, and Diversity & Inclusion) to promote student engagement and foster physical wellbeing by all members of the campus community through sport programs and special event programs. A vital component of this position is a demonstrated ability to work autonomously with initiative, critical and creative thinking; as well as a strong commitment to collaboration, student development, and customer service.

Job Description

Essential Functions: Administration (40%) Supervises the Coordinator, Sport Programs and 2 undergraduate program assistants  Manages all aspects of Campus Recreation’s outdoor facilities, fields, and courts including reservations and coordination of maintenance with Facility Turf Management Develops policies, rules, and regulations for intramural sports and club sport programs that promote safety, fiscal responsibility and participation.  Manage the Sports Program budget of $100,000 in conjunction with the Senior Associate Director of Programs. In conjunction with the Student Organization Finance Office, assist club sport teams in the developing and managing $250,000 annual operating and equipment budgets, fund raising, and properly expensing travel, equipment, and other expenditures. Creates staffing budget with the use of excel/sheets spreadsheets and provide forecast projections and 5-year staffing plans Creates staffing budget templates for Campus Recreation programming areas to provide a standardized approach.  Manage and purchase all Sport Programs equipment.  Oversight of the risk management plans for Intramural Sports and Club Sports program.  Makes recommendations to the Senior Associate Director of Programs. Intramurals (40%)   Responsible for the hiring, training, evaluation, and development of Intramural Sports student staff.      Supervises Intramural Sports staff involved with the execution of the weekday and weekend leagues, tournaments and programs. Creates and initiates league and game scheduling for all intramural sports and special events.  Responsible for scheduling of intramural sports games, tournaments, and special events.  Responsible for marketing and promotion associated with the Intramural Sports program.  Responsible for the assessment and reporting of participation numbers, learning outcomes, and satisfaction for intramural sports and special events       Club Sports (10%) Oversee the advising, mentoring and training of all club sport team officers and captains including, but not limited
