Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Chief Inspector to perform construction engineering and inspection services as directed by the Project Engineer. The position is in Rocky Hill, CT. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provides leadership, coaching, and mentoring to subordinate group, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Establishes and maintains comprehensive project records, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and accessibility of all documentation. Serves as technical expert in field inspections and audits, recognized as the 'go-to' expert internally and externally for complex technical issues. Provides clear guidance for all inspections, ensuring consistency and adherence to quality standards across projects. Sets direction and goals for inspection teams, aligning with overall project objectives and organizational strategies. Acts as external spokesperson on technical project issues, representing the company in meetings with clients, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders. Leads the development and implementation of audit strategies for individual's area of expertise, continuously refining processes for maximum effectiveness. Serves as key point of contact for high-profile engagements and member of AECOM senior leadership team, contributing to strategic decision-making. Oversees the development and implementation of safety protocols for all inspection activities, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: HS plus 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education Valid US Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with Connecticut Dept. of Transportation (CTDOT) Metro-North Railroad Safety certification Experience supervising / managing less experienced inspectors. Willingness to work flexible schedules as needed for projects, including overnight work. Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification, Engineer In Training (EIT), or Professional Engineer (PE) license. NICET certification (or ability to obtain required level).
