About this role

For decades, the computing revolution has reshaped our world, driven by breakthroughs in compute, connectivity, mobile, and now, AI. Google's XR team is at the forefront of the next major leap—the convergence of AI and XR. This is more than just new devices; it's about reimagining how we interact with the world around us. We're building a future where lightweight XR glasses pair with helpful AI to augment human intelligence, offering personalized, conversational, and contextually aware experiences. By integrating micro-displays, optics, and opto-mechanical modules like cameras and Display Sub-Assemblies (DSAs), our team delivers high-performance and delightful hardware experiences. Google's Raxium display group has established a revolutionary semiconductor materials display technology that enables new functionality in display products, bringing to users a closer and more natural linkage between the digital and physical realms in applications such as augmented reality (AR) and light-field display. With start-up roots and a state-of-the-art compound semiconductor fab in Silicon Valley, Raxium is seeking to build upon its engineering team with an aim to disrupt next-generation display markets.Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Drive system-level integration, comprehensive characterization, and yield optimization for Light Engine Assemblies (LEAs). Establish, align, and maintain technical documentation, including Engineering Requirement Specifications (ERS), Interface Control Documents (ICDs), product datasheets, and test protocols. Support advanced validation and verification (V&V), Design of Experiments (DOEs), and corner characterization across optical, electrical, and thermal domains to resolve complex multi-system interactions. Deliver continuous yield improvements using statistical data modeling, failure analysis, root-cause determination, and corrective actions (FA/RC/CA) to create tight feedback loops between manufacturing and design. Collaborate cross-functionally with design, test engineering, quality, operations, and manufacturing teams, effectively escalating critical issues as required.

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. 6 years of experience working in a product engineering role for display or semiconductor products. 3 years of experience in technical leadership. Experience setting product specifications (ERS/ICD), designing characterization experiments (DOE), and defining production binning and calibration strategies. Preferred qualifications: Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Optical Sciences, Physics, Computer Engineering, or a related field. 12 years of industry experience specializing in product engineering or module integration for AR/VR displays, optical engines, or high-precision optoelectronic systems. Deep technical expertise in electro-optical module integration, encompassing optical, mechanical, semiconductor, quality, reliability, and thermal domains. Advanced proficiency with statistical data modeling and automation tools (JMP, Python, MATLAB, SQL, R) for yield modeling, parametric analysis, and Monte Carlo simulations. Proven track record of guiding complex NPI optoelectronic modules from initial prototype bring-up to high-volume manufacturing.
